About me I am based in my studio is Dartmoor in the SW of the UK. My sculptures are mostly fabricated from stoneware ceramics and generally finished with a combination of glaze and oxide colouring. I prefer this medium as it is, once fully vitrified by two firings. This gives the benefit that they are frost resistant and therefore can be displayed inside or outside though personally I would insulate or bring them into shelter during extreme weather conditions. They do not come with plinths though do lend themselves to plinth display if desired. Commissions welcome, Range of products: Global Warriors: As Artist in residence for the global warriors these sculptures are designed to highlight the plight of animals in extreme climates that may be adversely affected by the ongoing effects of global warming across the globe. Initially I habitually focused on endangered animals or those adversely impacted by human interaction in general but when I met the Global Warrior team it provided a specific purpose to my animal sculptures and a higher clarity of direction. Global warrior team – a group of scientifically focused extreme explorers Collecting real data in some of the remotest and most challenging environments in the world Current – Ice and ocean, currently seeking funding, international interest from the likes of NASA as this kind of real on-the ground data is thin or indeed, for the next expedition to the northern most ‘Pole of Inaccessibility’ virtually non-existent Check out www.ice-warrior.com for further details Future objectives – Desert, Jungle and Mountain Warriors Dartmoor: Specific sculpture namely cattle sheep and horses, celebrating the multitude of breeds of animal hardy enough to survive and often challenging climate and living conditions Human form: Particularly focusing on the fragility of the current human conditions in time of national and world crisis. Heeds: Very much a great example of ‘marmite art’ loved and loathed in equal measure. Varying from larger busts to smaller ‘gargoyle’ like entities, principally I do it because I love it. I also have some 'Big Heeds' which as so named as they are much larger than the wee @Heeds'. Two of these are stone carvings though I found stone carving not to my taste and discontinued after these two.
